DENTAL IMPLANTS

If you have missing teeth, dental implants are the best solution for restoring your smile. No other restoration looks or feels as close to natural teeth as a dental implant. At Smile Center Ohio, our highly skilled Delaware, OH implant dentists bridge extensive training with state-of-the-art 3D imaging for the best treatment experience possible.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are permanent restorations that mirror the function of anatomical teeth. They’re placed into the bone where a tooth was extracted or fell out, replacing the root so that a fixed restoration—such as a crown, bridge, or denture—can be attached on top of it.

Today’s dental implants offer the highest success rate of any modern dental procedure and are designed to last for the life of the patient. Because of their strength and predictability, implants provide the best return on investment for anyone planning to replace their missing teeth.

Digitally Mapped Dental Implant Therapy

Smile Center Ohio uses innovative 3D CBCT scanning to map and place all dental implants. Instead of relying on two-dimensional X-rays, CBCT images allow us to plan around other anatomical features and ensure each implant is placed where the bone is the densest.

SERVICES OFFERED

Types of Dental Implants

Both full and mini dental implants are available at our Delaware office.

Traditional Dental Implants

The majority of our dental implant cases use traditional implant designs. Both Drs. Minnillo and Papp provide traditional single-tooth implants and implant supported bridges for our patients with missing teeth. Because implants stand independently of other teeth in your mouth, it’s possible to restore those areas of your bite without altering the health and integrity of adjacent teeth.

Conventional dental implants are installed and allowed to integrate with the surrounding bone for at least three months before a permanent restoration is attached on top of the implant abutment. This integration process ensures that the implant becomes permanently fused within the bone, actually making it stronger than other teeth in the mouth.

Mini Dental Implants

A mini dental implant is approximately half the size and width of a traditional dental implant. These smaller implant designs are used specifically for issues limited to narrow bone ridges, limited space between teeth, or to secure removable overdentures. Dr. Papp performs most of our mini dental implant treatments, assessing each individual for candidacy and discussing the pros and cons of smaller implants for their unique concerns.

Having mini dental implants placed is a simple procedure that can typically be performed using only local anesthetic.

Implant Overdentures

Overdentures are sometimes called “snap-on” or “clip-in” dentures. These implant stabilized denture designs attach on top of mini dental implants throughout the day, eliminating the risk of slipping or rubbing, which you might see in a conventional denture. Dr. Papp performs most of our overdenture cases and will tailor the treatment plan to each individual. Depending on your oral anatomy, anywhere from 2-4 dental implants are needed per arch.

Most overdentures can be worn on the same day of dental implant installation due to the minimally invasive nature of the procedure. In some cases, retrofitting an existing newer denture to clip onto dental implants may be possible.

Why Choose Our Implant Dentists

Each of our dentists is highly skilled in advanced dental implant techniques. Dr. Minnillo is a Fellow of the Implant Pathway, and Dr. Papp is a Fellow of the Midwest Implant Institute. In order to achieve fellowship status, both doctors have completed rigorous cases and presentations related to advanced implant procedures and are recommended by their peers. This highest level of recognition in implant treatment allows us to perform comprehensive therapies within our Delaware County offices without the need to refer patients to an offsite specialist.

Dental Sedation Available

Do you prefer to sleep through your dental implant treatment? Choose comfortable in-house oral sedation or elect to have an anesthesiologist administer general anesthesia during your procedure. Most people are surprised to learn that dental implant treatment is easier than having a tooth pulled, but your absolute comfort is important to us. We also have noise-cancelling headphones and ceiling-mounted televisions to help you tune out your surroundings if you prefer.

Free CBCT Scan

If you’re considering dental implant treatment, Smile Center Ohio will provide a complimentary 3D CBCT to determine your eligibility. Because we offer both traditional and mini dental implants, chances are we have a missing tooth replacement option for just about everyone!
